Amelia the Sea Turtle is an educational sign that was created to bring awareness to plastic pollution and the harmful affects to sea turtles.
Amelia was contructed from washed up beach junk. Look closely. How many bottle caps, sun glass lens, beach toys and fire works debris do you see? I see an infants pacifier!
Amelia the Sea Turtle was originally installed at Main Beach on May 1st 2021. A beach clean-up was organized and visitors were educated about marine debris and sea turtles.
We are happy to announce that our original Amelia the Sea Turtle has migrated to Sea Side Park for the winter.
A huge Thank You to Kathy Russell for all her time and help with our Washed Up Project, we couldn’t have done it without her support.
